If you’re interested in doing some exploring and a little adventure, it’s time to step out into the sunshine and check out these great parks in Greenville!
River Park North
A perfect outdoor area to visit, River Park North is a 324 acre nature park located just down the street from the PGV Airport. It offers a variety of spaces in which to enjoy a wide range of activities, such as a sand volleyball court, picnic shelters and camping areas. In addition to all this, there are also five ponds and two piers available for kayaking, fishing, hiking trails, and wildlife observation platforms where guests can admire the local fauna, like wood ducks or great blue herons.
Visitors are encouraged to track the animals they spot on the wildlife checklists that are available online or at the nature center. Other amenities at River Park North include four rental fishing boats, pedal boating and a fossil pit.
Visitors can walk, jog, ride bicycles, and enjoy nature along more than five miles of paved trail provided by the city. These network of trails are called the Greenville Greenways and together they form a recreational loop for users to hop on and off of throughout the city. Enjoy miles of beautiful overlooks and relaxing sounds of nearby running water. You can even drop in a kayak or canoe at the Town Commons Park and paddle down the Tar River next to the greenway. Biking is not only allowed on the greenway, it’s highly encouraged! The trail is wide enough so that pedestrians and bikers can share without conflict. Why not make a day out of your outdoor adventure and bring a lunch? There are plenty of picnic tables to choose from, many of which have beautiful views of the surrounding rivers, ponds and streams.
